Alan Sankey - Director (Click for more)

Alan has been a partner / director of the practice since 2000 and is primarily involved with the management and development of the business alongside continuing to be a practicing architect committed to design excellence and client satisfaction.

He has extensive experience across the various architectural sectors and is widely experienced in the design of healthcare and community buildings for NHS and private healthcare organisations. Having over 20 years experience in healthcare sector, Alan has been the author of several schemes that have been published in medical journals and has had projects exhibited at the British Medical Association. Similarly a number of projects have also won Civic Trust and RIBA Design Awards at regional and national level.

Alan has lectured and tutored at De Montfort University School of Architecture and has conducted seminars with GP groups and NHS Trusts regarding alternative procurement paths for primary care and the respective role of the Architect.

Other experiences include the design and procurement of large-scale leisure/exhibition facilities, master planning and commercial/office projects, along with new build and conversion, traditional and contemporary residential and conversion projects for private clients. More recently he now heads up the expanding veterinary project base covering all types of veterinary care projects.

Alan has a keen interest in sustainable design and spent time studying European Passive Solar Design and exploring Passive Cooling in the Tropics whilst studying for a period at the University of Singapore. He has written papers on both subjects

Having recently had children dispatched off to university and beyond sees a welcome retirement of 'Dad’s Taxi' leaving a little more time to catch-up on years' worth of jobs that have been put on hold and enjoy mountain and road cycling, squash and racketball, not to mention being able to travel to far flung places for half the cost and out of school holiday periods!

Chris Woods - Director (Click for more)

With over fifteen years experience Chris has worked in a variety of development sectors, including residential, commercial, healthcare, retail, conservation and master planning, servicing projects across the country.Since joining brp architects in 2008 Chris's architectural focus has been primarily within the residential sector, demonstrating broad experience in both general-purpose housing as well as specialist residential projects; particularly the delivery of Extra Care, sheltered housing and dementia care schemes.

Working with both private and social housing developers, Chris exercises a strong familiarity with the specific requirements of both Registered Social Landlord and Local Authorities in relation to the design / planning process, commercial viability, funding arrangements and contract procurement.

In addition to being a qualified Architect with a combined degree in Architecture and Town and Country Planning, Chris also has a detailed working knowledge of the BREEAM assessment criteria, and was a former Code for Sustainable Homes Assessor prior to its withdrawal by Central Government.

Outside of the office Chris is an enthusiastic golfer (although the scorecards fail to reflect this!) and has a passion for Non-League football, following the ups and downs of his local side Quorn FC. Unfortunately the frequency of partaking in both pastimes have reduced since the arrival of his daughter Nancy, but he is doing everything he can to encourage her interests in these to provide legitimate ‘excuses’ to re-start them again further down the line under the guise of ‘family’ time!

Lee Hankins - BIM Manager(Click for more)

Lee first joined brp architects (then Bundey & Rodgers) as a fresh-faced teenager and now has 20 years experience in architectural practice. He has achieved BA(Hons) and BArch(Hons) degrees and his Post Graduate Certificate in Architecture through De Montfort University and Nottingham University completing his Architectural education fulfilling his ambition to become a fully qualified and registered Architect.

Lee has experience in a wide range of sectors, including commercial, heritage, renovation, education, one-off bespoke housing, lottery-funded community projects and a specialism in healthcare.

Lee is our highly competent BIM Manager registered as a Graphisoft ARCHICAD Certified BIM Manager and is currently undertaking additional training to hopefully become registered as a BIM Certified Practitioner with BRE. He is heavily involved in the development and maintenance of the IT systems within the office, and deals with most of the troubleshooting queries from CAD users in the practice. Lee has also become a beta tester for our CAD software package, Graphisoft ARCHICAD, for which he has now won the Beta Tester of the Year award three times.

Jonathan Arksey (Click for more)

Jonathan studied Architectural Technology at Sheffield Hallam University achieving a BSc(Hons) degree, and subsequently continued his education to achieve an MSc in Technical Architecture. Both courses had an emphasis on environmental design which has led Jonathan to have a keen interest in sustainable Architecture and eco-design.

Jonathan has over eight years experience in a range of projects from healthcare and residential schemes, through to high-end retail brands. Previously he has been involved in award-winning national and international retail stores, covering designs from conception through to site completion. Jonathan joined brp architects to enhance and support the on-going projects within the luxury housing and extra care sectors.

In the coming years Jonathan looks to progress towards his Chartered status within CIAT and further progress his knowledge and understanding of sustainable building technologies.

In his free time, Jonathan enjoys bouldering and playing badminton with friends, as well as an occasional adrenaline boost such as skydiving or bungee jumping. During the winter months, Jonathan loves snowboarding particularly when it involves carving down the French Alps.

Andrea Obremski (Click for more)

Andrea has over five years’ experience in the Construction Industry, working on projects in a variety of sectors including Residential, Educational and Civic.

Currently, Andrea is working predominately on the practice’s healthcare schemes. Following her degree in Architectural Technology from Sheffield Hallam University she is looking to pursue Chartered Membership of CIAT.

Outside the office, Andrea has many hobbies ranging from crocheting, baking and playing guitar, through to more lively activities such as badminton and snowboarding. She is currently looking forward to restoring and learning to play her newly acquired piano.

Richard Woolford (Click for more)

Richard completed his BA(hons) in Architecture at Oxford Brookes University in 2009 and gained a Diploma in Architecture in 2012. Following on from this he successfully completed his ARB/RIBA part III professional qualification at the University of Nottingham in 2014.

During his time working in the construction industry, Richard has been involved in projects within the, residential, commercial, education and utilities sectors seeing projects from inception through to completion.

Since working for brp architects, Richard’s main focus has been in the residential sector, in particular working with local Housing Associations and Charities.

Prior to deciding to study architecture, Richard gained experience as a site based Project Manager and Mechanical and Electrical surveyor for a multi-national company, testing and consolidating his organisational skills.

Richard has a keen interest in conservation, in particular residential conservation and is working towards becoming a registered conservation architect. In his spare time he enjoys swimming, playing badminton, and has a keen interest in cars.

Richard also has a passion for photography which often involves climbing to the highest point wherever he goes!

Joe Jeacock (Click for more)

Having recently completed his Part I and Part II qualifications with De Montfort University, Joe is the most recent addition to the team and has been primarily occupied in assisting with delivering packages for a range of projects in the Primary Healthcare sector.

In his spare time, Joe's hobbies include skiing, badminton, photography and travelling. His past travels to south-east Asia, Australasia, around Europe and throughout South America have had a direct influence on his perceptions of the built environment and on how he approaches architectural design. For example, his graduation project drew heavily on the urban design aspects of Brazil’s favelas and sought to use these positively to attempt to combat negative integration in mixed-community living schemes.

As the ‘new boy’ on the block he has also been persuaded / co-erced into taking part in an upcoming endurance race known as the Spring Wolf Run along with a couple of other members of the Practice - with this seeking to raise funds for Alzheimer’s Research UK.

Michael Walkling (Click for more)

Michael has been with the practice since 2002 after succeeding in his ICT and Design & Technology studies.  He has developed from a general assistant's role into graphical and cartographic production, and becoming significantly involved in both project based and non project based ventures. His work is partly concentrated around designing and implementing the practices marketing strategy, but alongside this he has been a key contributer in a number of envelope improvement and affordable housing schemes, as well as serveral newbuild residential schemes from planning stage through to completion.

Michael has been pivotal in steering the practice through the complex world of digital marketing where his graphical presentation skills are put to good use. Together with web design Michael has initiated and maintains a blog for brp architects as well as various social networking outlets, produces marketing tools and documents. He is key to the practices imagery exposure though architectural photography, and has been fundamental to standardising the companies corporate branding all contributing to expanding the practices' exposure.

Michael has a range of hobbies and interests namely playing league pool, snooker and playing bass guitar.

Mandy Rogers (Click for more)

Having joined brp architects in 2005 initially as an Administration Assistant, Mandy has now progressed to Accounts Manager. Prior to joining brp, Mandy held various Admin/Secretarial positions from being PA to a Race Horse Trainer in Scotland, to Offshore Yacht Company and Trust Administration in the Channel Islands, naming just a few.

Following the birth of her son, Mandy embarked upon a course of part-time further education to update her skills and gain further qualifications that included book-keeping and general accounts preparation in order to expand her scope in the 'office environment'.

Being a country living girl, the outdoor life and horses have played a major part in her recreational activities having competed at all levels. She also enjoys running, walking her dog and reading.

Nadine Green (Click for more)

Nadine is our longest serving member of staff having joined the practice way back in 1986 as receptionist and PA to John Bundey. She currently holds the post of Admin Manager, ensuring the smooth running of the practice's non-project-based, behind the scenes administration and support, and is more often than not the bubbly voice that greets callers on the end of the telephone.

Nadine is our in-house human database and has a knack for being able to recall all sorts of information from historic projects, and knows where to find just about everything.

After completing a Business Studies Diploma and before taking up her first post with what was then Bundey & Rodgers, Nadine worked in insurance claims for a major road haulier and was also a probate secretary for a firm of Solicitors.

Away from the office, Nadine enjoys cooking and is a Trustee of the local Guide Headquarters. She also enjoys gardening, though prefers to relax with a glass of wine whilst watching others get to grips with the spades, forks and flowerpots.
