Awards success for brp architects

It has been a successful summer for brp architects, collecting a ‘Highly Commended’ Patron’s award from The Almshouse Association for our residential scheme at Bitteswell as well as being notified that three schemes have been selected as Finalists for this year’s ProCon Awards.

Alongside our Client, the Powell and Welch Almshouse Charity, we were invited to attend a formal ceremony at the Mercer’s Hall in London in July, as part of the Patron’s Awards Presentations.

Hosted by the Duke of Gloucester, the ceremony celebrated the design quality of various almshouse projects undertaken within the last three years.

Our winning scheme was completed in early 2014 and provides two bespoke 1-bedroom apartments on an incredibly tight, constraint-filled site. Positioned on the outskirts of the village, the building adopts a ‘gatehouse’ aesthetic, to tie in with a similar type of building at the opposite end of Bitteswell, with the architectural style / detail designed to closely match with the local vernacular.

It was a pleasure to receive recognition by the National Almshouse Association for the scheme, which was enhanced further by being the only new-build development to achieve such a prestigious award – an unusual accomplishment, with all others being refurbishments.

In addition to the Almshouse success, brp architects are also proud to announce that three of their schemes have been awarded ‘shortlisted’ status for this year’s ProCon Awards, including;

Small Residential Scheme of the Year:

  • New Dwelling, Spring Bank, Medbourne - Below, left.

  • Residential Development, Main Street / Green Lane, Ashley. (both schemes for and on behalf of Langton Homes) - Below, right.

Large Residential Scheme of the Year:

Oak Court Extra Care, Winchester Road, Blaby. (For emh homes) - Below.

Oak Court Extra Care Facility – Winchester Road, Blaby.

Details of the formal Winners will be announced at the Awards Ceremony to be held at the Kingpower Stadium on 12 November. Hopefully we will celebrating further success on the run-up to Christmas!
