Application submitted for new extra care facility in Loughborough

brp architects are excited to announce the recent planning submission for a new Extra Care scheme, providing 62 apartments together with associated general needs affordable housing, for a site on Derby Road, Loughborough.

The £11m scheme, to be developed by Westleigh Partnerships Ltd for EMH Homes, will provide much needed accommodation for the elderly population of Loughborough and the surrounding areas, as well as providing a further 10 Close Care bungalows and 24 general needs properties.

The Extra Care facility will be the second such scheme that brp have been proud to lead for Westleigh Partnerships Ltd, with the first being the Oak Court development, at Winchester Road in Blaby.

Formerly the Moseley Group headquarters, the Derby Road site occupies a hugely prominent position on a primary route into the town centre, and benefits from views over the Grand Union Canal to the rear. The proposed design offers a contemporary solution which, to date, has been positively received by both the Local Authority and other key stakeholders.

Subject to formal planning approval, the scheme is due to start on site in April 2015, with completion targeted for October 2016.
